Mu-Vision, Inc.

Innovative Problem Solving

MU-Vision functions as a pro-active facilitator for the purpose of developing and transferring advanced core, multi-disciplinary technology from the idea and laboratory stage to products that can be manufactured and marketed.

Over the years the principals of MU-Vision have accumulated a significant number of contacts and resources in diverse technological fields.  This is a prerequisite for an organization that desires to become involved in a broad spectrum of scientific disciplines.

Given the resource contacts, interests, diverse and extensive experience, and involvement of its principals, MU-Vision feels that it can successfully introduce advanced and beneficial products and technologies into the global society as the conduit from concept to deployment.

FPGA Accelerated Computing

The Computing Power of Clusters Without the Price

The CritiComp Systems Division of MU-Vision designs, manufactures, programs and markets turnkey, reprogrammable "Reconfigurable Critical Operations Processors" (RCOP) based on FPGA “co-processors”.  RCOPs can be “stand alone” computers, integrated peripherals for various products and instruments, or embedded solutions in those products.

Not every organization can afford to buy or rent time on a cluster or grid for those intensive computing tasks becoming so important in our modern technology.  But most organizations can afford an FPGA accelerated computing system.  Many programs that are intractable on a cluster run easily on an FPGA accelerated computing system.

Reconfigurable Critical Operations Processors can be thousands of times faster than an Intel P4 Processor -- depending on the task.  They are small enough to fit on a desk or under it; they dissipate much less power than a cluster; and they are a fraction of the cost for the same computing power.

Reconfigurable/FPGA computers are not suitable for all problems.  They excel, however, at problems that require repetitive calculations and quick software changes:

  • Video:  Compression; Video on demand; HDTV transcoding

  • General, Business Computing: Searching, Ordering large Databases -- Data Mining; Language Translation; Financial Transaction; Markets Simulation; Economic Modeling

  • Embedded, Real-time computing: Sonar; Radar; Multi-sensor tracking; Data Fusion; Phased Array synthesis; Industrial process monitoring; Medical Diagnostics (Ultrasound, EEG, ECG, CAT, MRI, PET, SPECT); Robotics; High speed data acquisition / preprocessing

  •  Scientific, Technical, Industrial, and Homeland Security Computing: Image Processing, Image Recognition, Anomaly Detection; Rapid Reconfigurable Processing for algorithm development; Pattern Matching, Recognition, Biometrics ; Genomics, Proteomics – DNA Sequencing, Protein threading, Docking; Pharmaceutical research and drug discovery; Molecular modeling;  Mass & Optical Spectroscopy; Detection of explosives and environmental hazards; Geophysical, Seismic - GPR / High Energy Physics; Solid / Wireframe structural {3D} manipulations; Nanostructures, Mechanical CAD, Animation; Hydro & Aerodynamics -- wind tunnel simulations; Meteorological & Climatological Speech recognition, synthesis; Petroleum Exploration / Exploitation; Chemical / Industrial process modeling / simulation; Semiconductor Device Fabrication modeling / simulation  -- MOCVD;  Electronic Design Automation: Analog/Digital, Microwave, Optical, MEMS ; Layout & Performance Simulation; Many-Body Dynamics -- Orbital rendezvous, Trajectory Analysis; Prototyping for ASIC-based processors; Forensics; Security

  • Communication: Wireless Internet;  Internet Packet Handling; Broadband Forward Error Compensation;  VoIP;     Software Defined Radio; Protocol Conversion; Cryptography
